  • without nationalism, no nation could develop a great military power such as US, stalin's russia or nazi germany. if you had no military then all those tax dollars may contribute to social security, "good" education, healthcare. but who wants that?
  • no. it leads people to ideals of extreme nationalism which creates tension and conflict between nations, races, etc. these ideals were the foundation for: WWI (Kaiser's Germany), WWII (Nazi Germany and Facist Italy), cold war (USSR and USA), many terrorist groups organisations (Chechnyan nationalists, FLQ, etc.)
