Memorial services are for the living. The dead are past caring who shows up. If she doesn't want to attend because the people there would ruin her mourning, then it's her perogative and she is correct *as it applies to her*. It would be wrong for her to try and tell others not to go for her reasons.

I suppose I could see where she's coming from, but regardless of whether the dead are there or not, attending such an event shows respect, especially when its close family, its quite a requirement to me, if I didn’t go to such a thing it would make me feel disrespectful that I didn’t care enough to see him one last time and pay my respects..
