Total submersion in the culture and language.

actually english is not my first language. it's spanish. You should do your best trying and never quit sometimes everything maybe hard. hope you learn a nice language.

choose one that you will use. Look at where you go on holidays or what communities are near you, so that you can practice outside of lessons.

If at all possible, go to a country that speaks the language. Submersion is the fastest and best way to learn. Also, don't be afraid to speak. You will make mistakes, people will help you. Don't be offended when someone does correct you, as you will learn from it.

Try to think in the other language. When you are thinking something, think your thought in your native language, then think of the translation and how the gramatics are different. As you learn more, start replacing words in your thoughts with the new language. Lets say you speak English and are learning Spanish. Start thinking in Spanglish (i.e. Tu es learning Espanol). The more you learn, the more you need to think in the language. The key is to be able to think in one language and speak in another. A language instructor I had years ago taught me this method and it works well. He also said that once you start dreaming in the new language, you have mastered the method. Mluveime Czechlish, Habla Spanglish, Rusklish, und ein bichien Duetchlish.
