  • I've been to Rio. It's honestly not as beautiful as you would imagine. It's very overpopulated and it's not a very safe place to just wander around. You must go see Christ The Redeemer, of course. That is incredible and the views of Rio and the ocean are amazing from atop Corcovado mountain. Also the sky tram to Sugarloaf is cool. A trip to the Tijuca rainforest is also very nice. The favelas are everywhere. I've read you can actually take tours through the shanty-towns, but I didn't do that. The beaches are nothing special aside from the half-naked brazilians! Copacabana is topless and even the bottoms are among the scantiest on the planet. So, if girl watching is the agenda, you could certainly go to worse places. The nightclubs are likewise wild and most places don't even start getting hot till after 11p-12a. Brazilians eat very late and party all night long.
  • I really can't add much to what Taylor said. I spent most of my time in Brazil in Campinas. Christ The Redeemer is a must see.
