  • It's too graphic & it would make Dubya look like a monster. They would rather spend their time refecting on how many people were killed on 9-11-01. They also only tell us how many US troops are killed in the field. They don't bother mentioning how many troops are wounded so bad that they don't die in the field, but in the hospital, nor do they tell us how many troops are maimed for life. It's all politically correctness.
  • no country really ever does this, most are guesstimates at best.... but it does seem that for every 1 Iraq civilian killed by coalition forces ...Iraq's themselves kill 100 of there own people, kids and women seem to be there targets of choice in markets and other trading places the insurgents know are fill with these soft targets and they do this almost everyday with no remorse what so ever
  • I am going to answer as a person who has actually been in the US military yet does not feel any overbearing loyalty to our government or it's policies. I can tell you before I answer that slothmister and you, emma, will likely call me an apologist. If that is your view of things, fine. You have already proven that you care more for anti-American propaganda than truth, justice, or humanity. There are many regions of Iraq where we just can't get an accurate count. Most of what we have to go on as far as tracking civilian casualties is estimates based on the rates of hospital admissions, estimates of the population density of a particular area compared to the damage profile of the weaponry used, and just plain guesswork. In an urban area this is relatively easy. In outlying areas... Before you blast us, then I want you to exlpain a few things. 1) How did the Vietnamese government come up with the 4 million number for civilain casualties? They are the only source to go nearly so high and one could easily question their bias. 2) To reiterate Raddman's question, did/does China keep track of how many innocent civilian deaths they have inflicted? 3) #2 with Saddam-era Iraq? 4) #2 with Khmer Rouge 5) #2 with NVA 6) #2 with... this could go on for QUITE a while. As for whether we care, OF COURSE WE CARE! You were disgusted by the fact that our fighting men/women come home from the battlefield and show the same affection to their spouses/lovers and family as you do to yours. You have got is SO ingrained into you that we are heartless monsters. Nobody here can convince you otherwise, so let us try a different tact. <sarcasm> Sure we care. More civilian deaths mean less people to subjugate, fewer potential customers to fill the coffers of our Capitalist markets, and less tax revenue from our 51st state! {/sarcasm>
  • I don't think that anyone actually kept a record of innocent people killed. In times of war, things are a lot different and the rules are changed. There is no time to look at and sort all the bodies to get an accurate count. Perhaps for an isolated domestic dispute, someone has the time and ability to go through each and every person killed but on a large-scale war, it's just too difficult.
  • The U.S. military tries in every way, even putting themselves at further risk and without a doubt taking additional casualties themselves, to avoid any loss of life of innocent people. It is who they are and what they stand for. Islamic Jihadists on the other hand have no qualms about killing innocent people. They do so without remorse. Emma, your intellectual dishonesty is beyond gross, it is pure hatred, and it has no foundation in fact. You have made yourself insignificant as you have proven yourself unworthy of an intelligent conversation.
  • your question suggests that it is the u.s. who is responsible for the deaths' of the innocent, while there will always be collateral damage in any war. the majority of killings in Iraq of innocent civilians is being perpetrated by the IRAQIS', not our men. and it offends me when people suggest otherwise!!!!!!
