yes of course. almost every year we (4 of the 5 of us) usually use AA Advantage points to fly). You just have to book early and be flexible. (the 5th person pays so he can get more miles)

Yes, I've used them for first class upgrades many times, and a couple of free flights. Which reminds me, I need to book a couple of flights! Thanks!

Yes. We use them to upgrade to business class when we do overseas flights.

Not with British Airways - cause they expired after a year, but with Air France I cashed in two free flights and with Air Canada, I've cashed in at least six, and about to do two more.

We just use our frequent flier miles for magazine subscriptions

I donated some recently about to expire to a fund for people needing transport for illnesses.

My credit card gives me 1 mile on U.S. Airways for every dollar I spend. Over the period of 5 years, I accumulated enough miles to get a free ticket from NY to Hawaii for myself and both my parents. :-)
