I believe I would yes. The way I see it is the points buy you nothing more than showing how long you have been here and how well you get along with others. So I like the points but what I like more is being able to help if I can and have a little fun and perhaps make a friend or two.
-
i never bother to look at comments nd all tht i just go for ans nd question
-
I would, but I would really miss the comments. I think they add something really special.
-
I love the comments. I might stay, but maybe not...
-
I probably would. The points and ratings are nice, but they are not why I am here. I would miss the comments terribly, though.
-
When you first join, points are important. After you've been here awhile you grow up and realize the points are irrelevant..it's like having a job in which the money is paramount...if that is your main goal, you will never be satisfied..those to whom points are the main reason, never really "get it" in my opinion. :)
-
The comments I think are still a useful tool for the Q and A portion of the site. It's good to clarify what you meant if someone didn't understand, or point out that your wrong, etc. They are, of course, also good for conversing. But I think I'd definitely still stay with no points, I've been hooked for too long. The "point" format would likely turn into how forums do it. Your rank based on your contributions. But I think the downside to that would be people answering a bunch of questions, and not giving an answer. They would just post a simple reply that doesn't mean anything.
-
Probably not as much.. I like a good competition.
-
Probably not if there were *no* feedback, even the comments. How do you know, after all, that anyone else has read your answer, or their thoughts in response? This was part of why I did not stay with that other, larger Q/A site -- the sheer volume of answers to every question was such that my answers were easily lost in all the traffic, and I never received either points or comments -- no feedback whatsoever.
-
Sure, points are nice but that's not the only reason I stay on here.
-
You have to ask? I've gone up one level in five months. I'd say I'm clearly here for the trolls, points and ratings!
-
I really like the comments, so it would be hard to stay without that. But I might try my best!
-
yes i would stay but the commits are fun
-
I would stay but keep trying to get the comments back!
-
That's never going to happen so I don't need to worry about it.
-
No. I would mostly miss the comments. I like it just the way it is.
-
I'm all for getting rid of the point system; I'd stay. But, I don't think the comments should be disabled. There's a huge amount of information and clarification in the comments.
-
I think I would stay. I would really like to slug it out with some people who think so highly of themselves.
-
points don't worry me but the comments make AB what it is and all the great people who come and say hello ... so I would stay I would miss the people ... but why muck around with perfection !
-
it's possible that I am answering this question too early in my AB career .. but I think the points are a huge selling point for the site. If I might be so bold as too assume .. I would gather than many other people also would consider the points a big staying factor. I am coming from a site where tempers are high, support is low. the only thread of hope that most of us cling to is the bonds of friendship that have been keeping us logging in as often as we do. my answer for now is points .. but also hope
-
I probably would, though the points do seem to lend an aura of credibility to some.
-
I'm still here. Points and ratings have not always existed on AB. Answers only could be marked as Helpful, Not Helpful, Wrong (it's been awhile, I might not have the exact phrases right). So, yes.
-
If the comments go, then I might contemplate leaving, but otherwise, I'm staying here.
-
Probably.More of a reason to.
-
I would stay if points and ratings were taken away. I do like the comments though.
-
What about commenting? If there wasn't commenting, no. I can't say I pay too much attention to the points...just the comments. :P
-
I dont think it would be as fun...but yes.
-
Yes, I love AB even without points!
-
i could go w/out the points and ratings, but i love reading comments (4 some reason i can't comment)
-
the comments are kind of how i build some connections with those who give answers, so i guess that would be hard not to. but the points doesn't make a difference to me honestly
-
I don't know, I kind of like the points. I suppose I could do without them though. But the comments to me are a must.
-
Yes, I don't really care about the whole points thing.
-
I wouldn't care too much about the points or ratings but not without the comments.
-
I'd be here a little less without the comments. When you think about it, most people were first drawn here for answers and didn't even know that AB had a points or ratings system.
-
Yeah, I always want to learn something new.
-
Yes, and I would stick around, even if there was no Penalty Box, or if FREE SPEECH was permitted by the Communist-sympathizing Administrators. +5
-
Yes.
-
yeah. there is a lot of cool people out here
-
Early on, I probably would have said no. But I've been fortunate enough to make some spectacular friends here and end up spending a lot of my time just on comment threads. Between that and the impossible number of points needed to go up a level, I really do think I would stick around.
-
They're not exchangeable to money, so who cares?
-
Yup. I enjoy reading the random questions and answers from different people, makes for interesting browsing =)
-
I suspect that in the beginning I would not have bothered without the points and that satisfaction they bring. Later of course we meet people, enjoy ourselves and start to feel comfortable and the points aren't important. Interesting question
-
I would always come to see how my friends are getting on. I have met some wonderful people here.
-
Only if Firebrand sticks around.
-
Yes, it's always good to have some friendly conversations with others.
-
Yes, I have learned a lot here and contributed a little. Mostly, I would stay for the interactions with some great people! :-) +5
-
Yes, of coarse. :)
-
Yes I would. I think questions would be much better!
-
Most definitely yes! It's like an enormous never-ending quiz, and I've always loved a good quiz!
-
yes i would , because i like helping others and give them advices .
-
Absolutely. I could care less about points. It's about fun and getting other people's viewpoints.
-
Yes. I would prefer that.
