That would be way more trouble than it's worth. the chevy 2.8L isn't exactly the world's greatest engine and certainly not worth the huge amount of effort required to get it to push a trooper around.

If your 88 trooper came with a v6. Yes, it is the same motor. However you will have to drill and tap new holes for the starter. The better upgrade is a 3.4 liter form a 94 ish Camaro or Firebird. Much more power than the old 2.8 v6. Search the www.4x4wire.com forums, many have done this swap before. Including me :)

with lots and lots of modifications ;) lol! leave it to a pro, if you have to ask if it can be done then you definitely should NOT attempt it. i'd use the 4.3 if i were to do it though, the 2.8 is crap ;)
