Great question! I deal with this all the time. People offer to help me at work, and I tell them what I need done. They do it their own way, which means I have to re-do it (taking up even more of my time), then I have to be grateful that they even offered to help me in the first place? I suppose you should be grateful because they meant well by offering assistance, but it's difficult to not be disappointed!

Wonderful question! My husband plays this game with me a lot. Then goes and sulks and says that he'll never help me again, because he can't do anything right. I suspect he does it on purpose, for just that reason, myself. It's nice to have help, but if it causes even more trouble that it was worth...I'm thinking grateful has its limitations. If it's a kid who's helping, I suppose that grateful is good, but then to explain what happened when I/you have more time, as to why it didn't work out. Did this answer make sense, or help at all?

Wow that's a really good question. I think that one should acknowledge the help, but then it is very frustrating when they just have to do it their way- especially if it means having to go over it again yourself. That's a toughie. I think I might thank them, or acknowledge the help, but definitely be disappointed that it wasn't exactly helpful. So, both then.
