What would happen if two people of the same gene kept having kids for generations? (besides them all going to jail)

Two people of the same genes have the same gender ... so it would be tricky to get them to have kids in the first place... Ok, suppose they're almost identical genes, then it is likely that their kids won't survive. Some genes are harmful when you get a copy from both parents and cause genetic diseases. Put two almost identical genomes together and the children get every genetic disease that their parents carry. The old idea of a single man and woman being able to repopulate the planet is wrong. In fact, you need a few thousand people to have enough genetic variability to prevent the human race dying out.
