  • Nah, it's just acting.
  • Why should it bother me? Those younger women are the one to be bothered.
  • No, why should that bother anyone.
  • Yes, because it gives a distorted view of what women really want - we don't all want an old wrinkly!!
  • Some of the age gaps are pretty extreme... those bother me. But, the trend in Hollywood is older women with much younger men... I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing that in the movies in a few years.
  • I think the younger woman/older man thing is fairly realistic. You may not see the extreme age differenes as often in real life but they do exist. I think its safe to say the man is the older partner in 85% of relationships.
  • nope see it eveyday at work
  • No, why should it, if that's what the audience wants? And it's a pretty realistic scenario if you consider that the older man in question is usually the movie's hero, i.e. the character is a socially successful man, and that most men, given the choice, will opt for a younger woman and that, being a socially successful man, our movie hero will actually get a younger woman. And yes, the theme of older women with younger men is definitely on the increase, but it's not incompatible with the theme of older men with younger women, and won't directly replace it. It's just that it's becoming more accepted that the socially successful woman might want a hunky younger man.
  • No, it happens in real life so why not in a movie... same goes for older women with younger men, I don't understand the problem.
  • What bothers me is that they never show what it's REALLY like with an older man/younger woman. He ends up bossing her around like she is his daughter, he insults her in a subtle way thinking she lacks intellect, when it's just lacking of life experience from 40 years of living-vs-25. He becomes jealous of her younger friends, especially the males seeing them as threats and ends up as a controling old fart. The only good thing about older men, other then they are established, is that after love making, they cuddle because they are so tired after it, they can't jump out of the bed like a younger man. Of course, a movie like that wouldn't bring in the money, so it will never be made.
  • I don't normally even notice it... so nope.
  • Yeah, it pisses me off. I think: 'she would never be with him!' but she is...cause it's Hollywood.
  • No worries on my part. Movies are not real. Perhaps movies reflect some aspects of life but a producers or director has every right to portray their characters as they see fit. Nothing more, nothing less.
  • It is the norm in most of the countries. In Hollywood, Bollywood or even in the Jackie Chan movies it is the same. The shelf life of a heroine is shorter than the hero's!Also the studios prefer older saleable male stars and pair them with a younger woman. It is for what they can offer the male stars they have to pay peanuts to the new young female costar.
