  • Because they think it's funny. Or jealous.
  • just because she goes on and on and on and on and on :)
  • It might be partially because of her style (she's not "pop") partially because of her accent, partially because of her citizenship. She also has made it clear her career is just that, a career, and doesn't play into her legions of fans so I think some of it is sour grapes. The main thing I equate people making fun of her is like William Shatner - who hasn't seen the parody of his Star Trek acting? Yet he has a wide cult following so some of it is just 'roasting'. I think she has a phenomenal voice and is an amazing singer.
  • Because she's Canadian! :-) (j/k) It's probably due to the large popularity of the song that she performed for Titanic. Now that everyone has heard it continuously in parodies, resturants, elevators, the pop world needs a new scapegoat to make fun of after making fun of Barabra Streisand got old, and this singer from this overly sentimental song made a fine fit into the mold. It's the sad thing about stardom, sometimes you're so famous that the public actually begins to repulse you. A sort of Uncanny Valley like syndrome, I guess. But she is a fine singer, and most of this stigma around her is unjust.
  • The media has given her a hard time about being extremely pretentious. The thing though is that she had very poor English at first, so she came across as being much more arrogant than she actually is. Just a theory.
