  • I spoil my daughter shamelessly when she's VERY sick - as in, fever over 102, not keeping food down, snot and mucus running down her nose constantly. I think that the added effort and attention helps make them feel better and get well sooner, honestly. If she hasn't eaten for three days, for example, and then asks for say, ice cream or a Swiss Cake Roll, she's going to get it. I think the long term affects are that they may fake sick more often to get this treatment, but the "very sick" I'm talking about is really difficult to fake.
  • I think you should. When I was little and would get sick all I would wanted was my mom to change my bed and tuck in the sides really really tight so I had to slide down to get in. And than leave me alone!!! I might have wanted some food, but I always wanted to be left alone. My mom gave me that and I still talk about it to this day! For me that was being spoiled while I was sick!! :)
  • Giving a child everything they want is never a good idea even when they are sick... Faking sick is the lasting effect, to get out of school and get everything you want sounds heavenly. Home schooling ruins this by the way you still have to do your work and when you are done, since it does not take all day, guess what you have to stay in bed.
  • Why would you bother to get better if life was better when you're sick? Having said that, ask an expert (your mum, someone else's mum ... )
