I never have, but I would say yes, I believe these are reasonable tools for law enforcement. Now if we could just raise our standards for the people in law enforcement. I am not insulting respectable officers, but I do think that they should be paid better, trained better and better prepared psychologically as a whole. Good question Mirage!

They get to shoot first and ask questions later. This is very effective in deferring popo casualties especially in neighborhoods where the suspects are known to fire at the police first. It does seem reasonable. I'd prefer neither obviously but I can see how it would be a valuable aid in protecting those who are supposed to serve.

I've never been forcefully restrained by any means. Some times, though, I imagine it's necessary.

I was Maced - some total jerk jammed the sprayer open on a can of mace and scuttled it down a University hallway full of people, including a three year old child, and I and another bystander went after it and brought it outside. It really was a rotten experience but the WORST part was when the Cops showed up and started questioning the people and one young woman said that she did know who did it but was not going to tell who it was 'because why should I get someone in trouble?" Honestly - if they had sprayed Mace up her nostrils at that moment I would have applauded.

Not I. I do think it is a reasonable tool for law enforcement because with out the only other option would be "shoot on sight to neutralize the danger". At least with mace and tasers there's another option they can use first to subdue them.

Eh - we were all young once, and some of us were not as bright as we thought we were : )

I've been tear gassed by police during a riot on a college campus. I was also shot is the ass by a stray rubber bullet the same night. At the time, students were starting cars on fire, and throwing beer bottles at officers on horses. So, yeah, it was reasonable.

i've been gassed, in basic training everyone gets teargassed as part of chemical warfare training. it's nothing like on tv, that's for sure ;)
