This noise will cause to have problems like not reading game dvds, freezing or while gameplay loss of some sounds and game music in the future... when you open the optic part of ps2 and as you see the white tab from the laser which is straching the little electric engine that allows the laser to move back and fort, carefully turn on ps2. you'll see that the lens cannot move because the white tab is hitting the gear at the same place rapidly. turn off ps2. so carefully pick up a screwdriver, very gently press on the white tab with the screwdriver. the carefully clean the gear with a cotton eve, but not too much. a little cleaning will be enough. turn on ps2. it will stop making the noise, because you have placed white tab on the gear. now turn off the ps2. place the cover of optic part and try a game. if its noise has gone, you have suceeded, if it doesnt you have to take it to a sony technical service. note 1: becareful when unfixing and fixing ps2. while fixing the screws try not to turn ps2 upside down, if possible screw it by putting the ps2 on a table and work under it. when working on it always plug off the power cord. note 2: try to place ps2 horizontally, not vertically while playing... note 3: this can be a temporary solution, not a permanent solution. note 4: sorry about my english...

ok look on the other side of the laser there is a little black screw trt to lossen it a little or try to tighten it a little this worked on mine u just have to find out if u have to loosen it or tighten it
