Our house does have a formal dining room, however it is rarely used except for holidays since the dinette is generally easier to set up.

Our house is not a formal type of house, but we do have a room that is a dining room. It's seperated from the living/main room. And we do use it for dining with friends two or three times a month. But I would not say there is anything formal about our dinner parties. We have a table, I make a bunch of food, we all gather in the dining room at the table and eat, talk, laugh.

I don't, but when I was a kid we had one...it was our second playroom. Playrooms with chandeliers ROCK!!

Yes, and even living alone, I always set the table (the right way!) at least for one of my daily meals.

Our new house Had a seperate dining room but the wall is gone so you can cook and talk to your guests.
