  • I think I was about thirteen.
  • I was thirteen when I first did it properly, although I remember being paranoid about it from the age of about nine (I'm a brunette with very pale skin so leg hair was kind of obvious). When I was around eleven my Mum bought me some little things called "Silkymitts" which were basically very soft sandpaper that you can use on small areas of skin to sand off soft hair - so they're ideal for younger girls if you don't want to give them a razor - I used to just use mine below the knee so I could wear skirts without tights in summer.
  • I started when i was about 12, but my mom basically waited until I asked her because its a big responsibility and lots of maintenance, she figured if I asked then I wanted that responsibility and that I was aware of it. I think its important to let her know this. It also depends on dress code and her piers. The more girls in her class that are doing it the more likely she will feel like she has too. Also my mom helped me the first time i just hoped in the shower in my bathing suite, ya know exfoliation and how to maneuver the razor best to avoid cuts. I think one of the best new starter razors would be the women's schick b/c it has cross bars that would help protect her hand or the intuition that has the soap around it. best of luck with that.
  • I started shaving when I was about 13, but a most of my peers shaved at 11. I have a lot of hair, and I'm brunette w/light skin. I was teased a lot, and it still really bothers me. Just talk to her and look at her hair growth. I know she's really young, but you could save her some humiliation especially if she is around older kids.
  • older than most, it sounds like -- probably more around 14...
  • I was 11 after I started my period. I don't know why but I can remember when I was growing up they would want girls to wait until after they start their periods then start shaving.
  • 12-13, but if she has dark hair maybe earlier. However, light hair I'd say is okay until 14 (though probably not much past that).
  • About 12 or 13. I was (and still am) a very hairy little girl.
  • 11 actually I believe. I had an early Puberty though.
  • Actually, she may never ask you about it....it is the kind of thing which is done for the first time spontaneously, at a sleep-over with other 12 or 13 year olds! They paint nails and do facials, pluck eyebrows...and shave their legs together.
  • I was eight or nine when I started. But I was raised in a household with a single father and an older sister. So basically I mirrored my sisters actions. When she started I started (dad is still oblivious to the fact that I shave my legs) she was about 11 or 12 :) so I would aim for more around the teen age.
  • i was in sixth grade.. and i only did it because my friend did. i was about 11. but my mom only let me shave up to my knee.
  • I was about 10. If your daughter asks though I would seriously consider telling her to wait because once you start shaving you have to keep it up.
  • I was about 12. Though I had tried it once with my mom's old "safety" razor when I was 3. (The ones which twist open so you can insert the double edge blade). Sliced my leg pretty good, so I was in no hurry for a while.
  • i was 12. in 7th grade the other girls laughed at u if u didnt shave.
  • I didn't start shaving my legs until I was about 14. (kidding)
  • I never thought about it and then on my 11th or 12th birthday I unwrapped a lady's shaver and about died from embarressment in front of my Dad and Brother. My Mom should have given it to me in private..geeze.
  • well she'll be asking real soon then, I was about 12. It was peer pressure that made me do it.
  • I was 11. My sister was 13 or 14. My mother reasoned that we could start shaving when we noticed we needed to and that by refusing that simple task that she could potentially affect our self-image in a negative way. Shaving, really, is a much different issue that make-up. It's hygiene and maintenance rather than beautification. If she asks, I save the argument for the makeup. (I was 14 when I got to start wearing makeup, btw)
  • about 11 or 12
  • 6th grade/ 11yrs old.
  • About 11
  • the first time i ever did was when i was in second grade hahah i thought you could put the hair back... but i really started when i was in 6th grade
  • I think I was about 11. My mum wanted me to wait longer but I've got black hair and very pale skin, so I kind of had to!
  • My 11 yr old already does. She thought she should start because I do it. She did not like the baby hair on her legs, so that was the end of that and the beginning of her using my razors..
  • I don't think I started until junior high, around 13 years old (I'm 35 now). Things have changed a lot since then though and I am sure that would be considered late these days.
