  • I don't think you can. It is probably built in to the browser. However, you might be able to download some sort of add-on or mod to fix it up.
  • You don't! You just learn to spell the right way! :) j/k had to. Try Tools | Options, Advanced, and the Choose button under languages.
  • You need to download the English (British) dictionary from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:3
  • My Firefox has the British English dictionary installed and apparently activated, but ignores it. There's no "Language" tab under Tools-Options-Advanced, either. Oh well. Just put up with the wavy lines under all the words the Americans can't spell correctly, I suppose.
  • After further research, I've found that the place where you change the default dictionary varies between versions of Firefox. Sometimes it's under Tools-Options-Content (version 3.0.1), sometimes in a range of other places. Installing the British-English dictionary isn't enough: you have to switch to using it.
  • Dont even try. The British dont know how to spell English words properly to begin with.
  • It's the English language! The English spell words the English way; the Americans spell them differently. The reasons the Americans spell individual words the way they do is fascinating - I know a bloke who did a PhD in it. But as an Englishman living in England, I have my narrow, insular preferences for how to write my mother tongue. I'm glad Firefox now sees things my way! ...und trotzdem vorwärts!
