well... most of the influential people quickly went under the radar after the war... ran to brazil and other places they would be hard to track... it is easy to believe that some of them would still be alive. i watched a history channel show last week that interviewed some of the german soldiers who are still alive and what it was like for them... they had no idea they were doing anything wrong. simply put they were just following orders.

I have known people who were survivors of the Holocaust... I had them as patients at a hospital at which I worked. None of them were in great shape and I doubt that the folks I knew are alive today. Some of the younger survivors are alive to this day. As far as the main players on the Nazi team, I have not heard of any survivors in over 20 years. Mengele (may the Gods curse him) died in 1979, having been hidden in South America. I remember one other after him but I cannot remember who it was. That would be hard to ascertain because many dove underground, were purposefully hidden, and, simply, vanished. We are not going to hear news of their demise because they were so thoroughly hidden. I do not consider such as the guards to be the main players. If I were to find out that some little old man living next to me was one of the main players, I might not be able to control my reaction.
