  • My friend Neil borrowed a book called Inside the Poker Mind - then moved away - I never heard from him again.
  • I had the best best book of pictures on what my hometown looked like 100 years ago and loaned it out and then they moved and I can't find that book anywhere. I will keep looking though.
  • I have a pretty extensive book collection, especially non-fiction and reference stuff, and after losing a few expensive books to people, my books are never loaned out to anyone anymore. THe other thing that seems to always disappear are clothing items. I loaned someone a sweatershirt on a fishing trip, and it never again appeared in my life.
  • yes long story boiled way down my boyfriend
  • I've lost loads of tools because friends have borrowed them and never returned them. One friend insisted that he'd returned a tool he had borrowed from me and then found it in his loft two years later. The strangest thing along these lines was when I was absolutely convinced that my next door neighbour's lawn edging shears were mine and he insisted they were his, so he kept them and I borrowed them when I needed them. Years later a friend I had lost touch with when he had left the area discovered my email address and mailed me. When I replied to him I told him I still had something belonging to him. His reply was, "That's OK, I've still got your lawn edging shears."
  • I'd rather give someone something than to loan them.
  • Books..I have lost track of the number of books friends have borrowed from me that I never saw again..when I borrow something from someone I am always aware that it is not mine..that I need to take good care of it while it is in my possession..and that I need to return it. Over the years..dozens of books... gone forever...it's o.k. though..books are replaceable. :)
