    Yes. A bad habit too.

    When I was driving tractor-trailers, I started the habit of carrying things I needed ie. maps, books, extra clothes...things I like having "just in case".

    My "survival kit".

    Well I no longer drive professionally, but I still carry "stuff" around with me! Most of the time I don't even use what's in the bag! It gets heavy at times and I have to force myself to remove a few things.

    It sickens me that I've become dependent on carrying a backpack, but I feel naked without it.

    I use a back-pack, carrying my doctoral books to the pool, the beach, on overnight trips, etc.
