I would say the most likely situation here is that you do have some malicious software, either spyware or a virus or what have you, but your anti-virus/etc. programs are out of date and thus not catching them. So make sure those are updated as a first step. Alternatively, you can run something like Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) which is a browser based anti-virus tool and will be up to date. I believe it also scans for mal/spyware, so you can kill a whole god damned flock of flying birds with lion heads or whatever.

If it happens the worst when you first start the computer try checking to see if an internet object has been installed onto your desktop right click your desktop goto properties click the desktop tag click the web tag see if there is anything in the window with a check just remove the check on each item one at a time and see if it helps you can always turn them back on if you need them
