  • On your activity page those x's are there to shows each action - by removing an x by clicking on it that function will be hidden on your page. For example if all x's are on it will show all answers, ratings and comments. But you do not want to see the ratings your getting, you just click the x on that function offered and all your ratings will go away from your view. Click the empty box and they come back.
  • It means that each of those functions are 'On'. If you click them, one by one, you will turn those off in your profile and I believe in other people's profiles too, that you may choose to visit. It's one useful way to turn off your ratings so you don't see those minus ones and get upset, too:-)
  • Do you mean those check boxes on profile pages? They stay *left* from the text that they influence, which is "questions", "answers", "comments" or "ratings". If the check box is checked, a "X" is displayed. All boxes are checked in the default setting. Checking the box off takes that particular part from the display. For instance, on the "activity" page, you can display all four of them. If you check the "ratings" check box off, you won't display the ratings anymore. Remember that if you check those boxes off, they stay so and you won't get any more ratings displayed, for instance, even after you restart your browser.
