  • I think that is a very fair thing to expect. I mean, nothing should be plagiarized. Even if the information is taken from the Internet, they need to write it all in their own words. That's not impossible. Original ideas are still possible, too. If they weren't, our society wouldn't be progressing and we'd never have new technology, and that's not true. So, undergraduates who don't write anything original are just showing laziness. Unfortunately, that is a common characteristic in current generations.
  • It works the same way in science. The so-called experiments were tried and solved hundreds of years ago, but the students need to work them from scratch to see how experimentation works. Would you advise we all stop learning math, since calculators are available to students as early as kindergarten? Writing is supposed to train you, not astound the world. In other words, it is for your benefit.
