Your very best bet is to go to a day spa or one of those places where professionals put on make-up for women for such events as weddings. Used to be that store counters at the mall had such, I do not know if they still do. For us to 'judge' based on what is said and not seeing may fail you greatly. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Your best bet would be to apply just eyeshadow, take a few pictures - then apply eye liner with that shadow, take a few more pictures. Then pick the best two and post them someplace and link to them. Of course this means people would be seeing your face. You could crop to hide from the tip of your nose down - usually half a face (say eyes only) is difficult to figure out who we are looking at. Once armed with a visual people will be able to have an opinion based on what they see. Mind I can assume that you know how to use eyeshadow in a manner which works without eyeliner. If not then my saying "Eye shadow works ok by itself" would be misleading. other things that would have an impact is the shade or color of the eyeshadow - how far you apply it across the lid, how much you use and your blending into the surrounding area - all have an affect on the final product.
