I use it and it's always been more than enough for any problems I encounter.

I don't use it because I had already paid for Norton. But I believe that PC magazine rates it highly..you should be able to check by googling on PC magazines site.

AVG is a good program. I used to use it.

I've used AVG Free for years and never had any problems. THOUGH, if you want to do secure online banking, you should install a firewall, not an anti-virus. ZoneAlarm Free is probably the best one on the net, at this time. Here's a link to download ZA Free: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/1025_update/zaSetup_en.exe

I have used AVG free anti virus for over 3 yrs. and I love it. I have not had any problems with it. It caught a couple of virus's right away. In fact I had Norton when I got 3 virus's and Norton could not remove them. That is when I got rid of Norton and got the AVG Free Edition.

AVG is fine - as long as you set it to update iself regularly and schedule it to run when you are not busy. I would make sure you have a firewall like ZoneAlarm if you are worried about online banking security = also ad aware - it is not viruses which steal information but cookies from web surfing and worms, trojans from opening those spam emails

I have been using AVG Free for about six years, in combination with Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, and Zone Alarm Free Firewall. I have been conducting most of my banking online for a similar amount of time. I have never had a virus infection or major security issue, and my credit reports have never shown unauthorized activity. The software is only half the solution, though. Internet safety begins with safe browsing habits and a healthy level of paranoia, in both your online and real world habits. After you've secured your PC, secure your physical mailbox and make sure you shred any document with sensitive information before throwing it away.
