************** [to Glenn Blaylock] Mormons believe God the Father and God the Son are both created beings and are still progressing towards perfection... this definitely depreives God and Christ of their divinity. The God of the Bible is and always has been. The Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, from everlasting to everlasting. He is all knowing, he is everywhere and he is all powerful... yet comes to us personally through Christ (The second person of the Trinity). *************** I have to respectfully disagree with Bob Blaylock... In Christian beliefs, the Bible is the infallible Word of God without error and without contradictions. The Bible has stood the test of time. It is the basis for which "...to test all things and hold fast to that which is True". The Bible is divine rather than human in origin. I think Mr. Blaylock's words are as a result of his beliefs (Mormonism) which deprive God and Christ of their divinity. If the Word of God is not infallible, then we are lost in determining Truth. Without the Truth, other so called "scriptures" are considered the Word of God even when they are in direct contradiction of the Bible. The Bible, in its entirety, is all we need to get to know who He is and to point us to Christ for salvation. What else do we need? It tells us about God's gift to us (Christ) for our Salvation. It tells us that we (believers) are forgiven by God's grace. It tells us how much he loves us. It also tells us that as a result of God's Grace given to us(forgiveness of sins and Slavation), we(believers) are to spread this message and to love and serve others by doing good works. The Bible does tell us to test all things. Paul tells us that if we are taught another Gospel message that is different than the one taught in the Bible then we should know it was not from God. How are supposed to know what is from/not from God if we do not have an infallible basis from which to know God's Word? Any other non-Biblical books in contradiction with this should not be considered God's Word. God, out of his love for us, provided us with His infallible Word.

Preface: This will be an unpopular answer with some. It is however taken from the Word of God, and therefore profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteousness.I am not pointing this out in a spirit of meanness, nor trying to be inflammatory. I am showing the Word of God in a spirit of love, with a hope of correcting error. May God soften hearts so that truth can enter in, Amen. Yes it does. The Bible does not specifically condemn the book of mormon, or other of Joseph Smith's writings, or Ellen White's writings, or John Calvin's for that matter, but descriptions of their conception are uncannily accurate, and we are warned against them. 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Galatians 1:8-9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. As the story goes, an angel named Moroni showed J.S. the "golden plates" which contained the true Gospel. He gave J.S. some magic glasses(or was it stones) to interpret the strange language written on them. One who uses magic is a sorcerer, look at these verses. Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. If I wanted to lead people away from God, and teach them a false Gospel, this would be my strategy. 1. Cast doubt about the Bible and God's people. J.S. says God and Jesus appeared in a vision and told him all churches on earth were wrong and had sank into apostacy. 2. Introduce a new gospel similar to the first, but leaving the door open for further revelation.(book of mormon, pearl of great price, doctrines and covenants, living prophets who "speak" for God.) 3. Convince people that anyone disagreeing with my teaching will lead you away from God. I have the only real truth, but is in this book, not the Bible, because the Bible has been misinterpreted by evil men bent on corruption and power. 4. Keep all teachings of my followers close to what is in the Bible doctrinally, but different enough to cast doubt what is real and true, or, keep people confused. 5. Spread my gospel everywhere. Sound familiar? Bob Blaylock, The Bible teaches that when Jesus comes back and walks on the earth again, it will be the end of times. The tribulation will begin, and the antichrist will have made his appearance. The book of mormon teaches that Jesus was here in America in the 1800's, walking and talking to Joe Smith, and others. Since I don't see the one world religion, nor the plagues, nor has anyone been raptured out. If Jesus had been here then why are we not seeking death but unable to find it? Where are the beast and THE false prophet? There are many false prophets in the world now, just as there were in John's day, but THE false prophet has not made his appearance as yet. Which one is correct? I know, and my correct book was translated about 400 years ago by a bunch of Godly, Christian scholars. The foremost language experts of their day. Checked and rechecked by each other, and agreed on by all. They did not use magic glasses or stones or voodoo chants to aid their translation, but did use prayer and old fasioned Christian discernment to reveal God's word to the English speaking world. Blessed by God, argued against by many( unsuccessfully I must add) but loved by millions, the #1 best seller of all time, the King James Bible. Bob have you had your Temple ceremony yet? Where does the Bible say that divulging the secrets of the ceremony will result in your death at the hands of your brethren? Where does the Bible say that women cannot go to Heaven unless married to a mormon saint? Where does God promise that you can have your own stable of wives in Heaven, and make spiritual babies for all eternity? Where does the Bible say that there will be a man on earth who will speak for directly God until He comes back? Where does the Bible teach that black people were the ones who did not resist Satan hard enough during his rebellion in Heaven? The Bible says that NOTHING of God is done in secret, so where does all that come from? It seems Joseph Smith worshipped his genitals more than God. Another uncanny description of something that has come--worship the creature instead of the creator. Hmmm. For everyone who may be interested, here is one of my sources, another ignorant, bigoted, decieved individual who happened to be a mormon at one time. http://saintsalive.com/mormonism/strawmen.htm also there is a page with a wealth of info from this author.just drop the strawman.htm from the url. the article on africanamericans is particularly enlightening. Bob also says "no real mormon ever believed these things" and has said this many times in negative comments on my other postings. Please explore th cited url and note the sources. All official mormon "scriptures", and direct quotes from the founders, prophets, and leaders of their church. He must not consider Joe or Brigham real mormons, or Bruce McKonkie, or the others. Oh how Satan hates being in the light of truth! And Bob, if you don't believe that what I say is in the Bible, really is, I will match my knowlege to yours any time. I don't believe you ever read it, or you would know what it says. Prove me wrong with God's Holy Bible, or keep silent.

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18-19

John Pacella (reply on this site) said, "Without the Truth, other so called "scriptures" are considered the Word of God even when they are in direct contradiction of the Bible. The Bible, in its entirety, is all we need to get to know who He is and to point us to Christ for salvation. What else do we need? It tells us about God's gift to us (Christ) for our Salvation. It tells us that we (believers) are forgiven by God's grace. It tells us how much he loves us. It also tells us that as a result of God's Grace given to us(forgiveness of sins and Slavation), we(believers) are to spread this message and to love and serve others by doing good works." To point out the main thing in the middle of this wall of text, John said "What more do we need?" Well I'll tell you: We need to know more about Jesus's life on earth. Sure, the Bible gives us a wonderfully detailed account of being divine and a preacher and a miracle worker and so forth... but according to the Bible references and editions that explain things... Jesus was 33 years old when he was Crucified. But all together, jumping from here to there in describing his life here on earth... we have about 5 years total. That's it, five years of his life. Now, I know you know there are TONS of books that didn't make it into the Bible such as gospels written by other people, a couple of revelations from different authors and letters and so-forth. And to tell you a bit of truth, the original "committee" (if that's what you want to call them) the compiled the books of the Bible, didn't want to include the book of Revelation that we have, because of how graphic and explicit it was... but they were afraid not to include it. But they didn't include other gospels (Thomas, Paul, etc.), not because they weren't divinely inspired or legit or written way afterwards with false hogwash... but because they explained too much about Jesus's life that didn't pertain to being supernatural, and they didn't want people to get the wrong idea. They had this, for lack of better comparison, superman of their time and didn't want future generations to do exactly what we do now... and that's think of him as anything less than "superhuman". And God never dictated what to include or not to include, he never even said to compile the books into the Bible... people just did it, and because of that, they reject the ones not included based on the scripture that says other books not included are false. But who's to say they were meant to be rejected as false? It all comes down to interpretation of the scripture. And to be completely unbiased, I am not a Mormon and do not agree with them completely, but I honestly can't accept the Book of Mormon as uninspired of God, for the simple fact that it's way too complicated and specific for a random man (farmer, right? not that it matters) to have come up with it all on his own... with the journey to the mountain and rock and stuff. What does get me, though, was that he was told to destroy the plates (how you can destroy plates of gold I don't know) after translation (which he couldn't have done being un-knowledgeable in the languages and all that) so that no one can find them or whatever the reason. I think that's a stretch, but I don't see it as "adding to scripture" but more like an alternate viewpoint that was rejected at the time of compiling the Bible and stashed away until a time came when it would be accepted. But again, I know barely anything of the Mormon denomination, but I choose to be unbiased about that which I do not understand. Sorry for the rant, and my fingers are all locked up... but I just get carried away when I'm on a roll. Hope this helps. Even though I'm not sure it's even on topic with the original question.
