Your not kidding i saw christmas cards in one card shop 2 weeks ago so thats in August it just gets on my nerves.

Yeah it seems like they used to at least wait until after Thanksgiving in the US.

You need to boycot those stores while they have the Christmas stuff up. I thought it was bad when I saw Halloween stuff in Walmart yesterday.

Hey Mark, i cant believe i was in Tesco tonight and they have selection boxes and christmas chocolates on the shelf!! I had to look twice, - hell ive not even had my summer holiday yet, is this happening earlier every year?? I thought we usually had the halloween stuff before the xmas stuff??
-
I've seen some here in the U.S too already. They do start earlier every year hoping to get you to spend more money. They might as well just leave it out year round.

I can remember as a child shortly after the summer holidays, xmas adverts would be on the box as early as beginning of September!!! My mum used to go mental...as it puts alot of pressure on parents way too early....parents having to put up with.."mum can i have ..huh huh can i huh!" for the next 4 months...yep you're right!

What was the festival about?

I don't think "they" are actually *trying* to undermine the holiday itself. I think that commercial entities are driven by one thing only - profit. If they see results in putting out Christmas wares early one year, they will be apt to put it out even earlier the next year. The only way to stop it is for the greater part of the consumer base to REFUSE to purchase these items before "their time". But how likely is it that a boycott of that scale can be organized?

And I thought it was just here in the USA! Sorry to hear that's the same problem in England. Last year they had Holloween decorations and right alongside, Chrimas decorations! What's even more irksome for me personally is that the day after Christmas, many shops and stores take down their Christmas decorations! I suppose this is what happens when commercializm is allowed to run away with our holidays! Christmas Incorporated!
