How can you tell an out of body experience during sleep from a normal dream?

I have never had an out-of-body experience..if I ever did, I think it would scare the heck out of me and I wouldn't want to go to sleep again! :)

From what I have researched on the topic an out of the body experience in a dream happens when one starts to fly in their dreams.It is when they start to have control of the dream and choose what will happen.I have flown many times in my dreams and usually fly about 30 feet in height.One book said to ,while going to sleep,to consciously say to oneself,to look at the hands while in a dream.This will cause one to fly.I have tried this technique and it works.
