Why is it ok to make jokes about someone's favourite football team, actor, food, colour etc...but if you make fun of his religion you get hit with "That's offensive..blah,blah,blah"?

There is a huge, fundamental difference between someones favourite colour, and the beliefs system that they live their life by. Favourite foods, colours, bands, etc, are all fairly trivial topics, and so the risk of truly offending someone if you "make fun" of them isn't overly high. However, making fun of someone's religious beliefs is basically the same as making fun of who they are. Many religions are based on a long history and tradition of beliefs and practices. To make a mockery of that would be infinitely more offensive than telling someone their favourite football team are worthless.

Because people really strongly beleive in their religion. I dont have any faith and my favorite team, or color or anything, but i have alot of faith in my God. In my opinion making fun of a persons religion is worse than making fun of their mother. Its like making fun of the thing they love the most.
