Give it to her with the gift receipt and let her know that you just found out that she already has the item. That way she can exchange it for something else.
-
I agree with snake. I think it's better to give the dup gift w/receipt than for your friend to think that there was no gift.
-
I think you should give the gift anyway and just act like you didn't know it was a dup gift. :) They can return it
-
Its better to give it to him/her.It will just show that your likes and dislike as similar.
-
Ooh, good question. I say, return it and get something similar- maybe it has some accessories to go with the gift or another one that is a little different? Since you're in the same store, that is.
-
Give the person the gift with the receipt. Tell them we had the same idea. This was they know it's an honest mistake and they can get something else they want.
-
give it to her and tell her the whole story..he/she should be able to exchange it.
-
well If I had purchased a greeting card to go along with the gift because it was a special occasion I would just give them the cash equivalent of the gift and explain that I did have a gift for tham but found out too late that they already had purchased the same thing I had and would add the comment great minds think alike lol.
-
Yeah show up with the gift and have the friend decide what to do. If people really like something sometimes we purchase 2 of the same kind.

The last thing it would do is bothering me. How could I know. I would just laugh about it and ask him/her if he would rather have the receipt or that I should buy him/her another present. Besides the whole thing would just prove that I really know my friend.
