i thought that there were only 3 lord of the rings books!! and it only took me about 6 months. JRR Tolkin in one of my favorites though

5 years?! To me, that would be proof I didn't actually like a book... I read The Hobbit when I was about 12 in a couple of weeks. I read LotR a few years later and it took a couple of months. I consider myself quite a slow reader, but I'm a proper speed reader compared to you!

I'm a fast reader and have a high IQ. I was 11 when i read the Hobbit it took me about a week then i started the Lord of the Rings and read all three in about a month and a half.I've read them all 14 times since then and can now read the whole series in about 2 weeks.

Can't remember, it's some years since I read it.. I think it was a couple of weeks, perhaps closer to 1½ month. I skipped a lot of it, however, and ended up dumping the whole 4th book ><

There are three Lord of the Rings books. The Hobbit was what came first, then Tolkein decided that he wanted to develop a history of the ring, and thus we have The Lord of the Rings. To answer your question however, I finished the first on ein three months, reading for abbout an hour every few days. I can't really stand Tolkien's style however, so I put it down midway into The Two Towers.

I read "The Hobbit" in a day. I read "The fellowship of the ring" in a weekend. I read half of "The two towers" on another sunny afternoon many years ago - I put it down and never picked the darned thing up again. Frankly it was miserable to read - I grew sick of it and actually prayed for the armies of Mordoor to slay everyone involved with the fellowship in some gastly violent way. A much better read is "Bored of the rings". Read it and laugh your socks off! http://boredoftherings.150m.com/bored_main.html
