The laws in my state require EITHER 20/40 or better in both eyes OR 20/30 in one eye, though corrective lenses are allowed. I am legally blind (20/300) in one eye due to Amblyopia ("Lazy Eye") and yet I have a license as my glasses correct my other eye to 20/20. As for depth perception problems, I have lived with it my whole life and can perceive distances accurately even with one eye covered. The trick is to move slightly and triangulate which is easy to do if you're in a car.
