Should celebrities actually have a talent? Or is being famous for being famous enough?

I think they should have a talent. I keep asking myself when and how did we get to the point that being rich and actting out was a role model. Good Grief!!

In today's time a pretty face trumps any real talent everytime. Musicians are less musical and more video capable dancers etc., Actors are models instead of stage actors, and even our politicians have to have a good TV presence or they have no chance to win. WHy did Kennedy win over Nixon, (even though they now say technically he lost)? It was his visual effect on TV being young and handsome. There will be no more Abe Lincolns, Christopher Cross, or Janis Joplins anymore, they would never make it in the pretty world now.

Celebrity, that's a devalued term if there ever was one. The second option seems to work well enough for certain hotel heiress, for example.
