  • I would say that it's likely that he isn't assuming that you have a boyfriend - he's actually phrasing it that way so that he can find out IF you have a boyfriend, without seeming like he's interested in you, in case you DO have a boyfriend (which would be embarrassing for him). You'd either say "I don't have a boyfriend," or "It's my boyfriend." Either way he finds out what he wants to know without looking foolish. If he were to say "Do you have a boyfriend ?" and you said "Yes," he'd be thinking that YOU were thinking "He was hitting on me !" And he'd be embarrassed ! Hopefully that makes sense !
  • Because he's setting himself up, so that he's not disappointed when you DO say you have a boyfriend. Also he's "fishing" for you to say "No, it's not my boyfriend's. I don't have a boyfriend". They think they're smooth, but they aren't.
  • they don't assume you have a boyfriend. but they are too insecure to just go for it. so asking you is a way of finding out if you do or don't
  • Like everyone else said he's trying to find out if you do or not without coming out and saying it. He doesn't want to show interest and then find out you do. It's an way to do it and still save face.
  • See, I'm the opposite. I assume that every girl I meet and flirt with doesn't have a boyfriend. It can put me in very awkward situations sometimes! I can't help the fact that I'm a charmer who loves the ladies!
  • because guys are just weird.... and assume the worst at first glance
