  • you can try giving them egs (not boiled) over their dry food - it makes the food more 'exiting' plus gives them a healthy skin. I don't think you should do it too often, maybe only once or twice a week, as I don't reckon that amount of protein is healthy. I saw on a show that dogs like smelly food, meaning they'll eat with pleasure if you mash garlic on their dry or wet food. if you want to change into wet food, mix only a little at the time into the regular and watch for signs of uncomfort.
  • Most dogs really love plain canned pumpkin (NOT the cans that say READY TO POUR into pie...you don't want that because it has sugar in it...the can SHOULD SAY PLAIN on it) Just a spoon for each. It is also good for firming up loose stools and it helps the dog to shed the stomach lining, which is something dogs do about every three days or so naturally. You might want to consider giving them a detox as I assume you used standard means of ridding them of worms and unfortunately the standard Western Medicine for this is POISON. It's toxic to the dogs, too, although "only a little bit of poison" still, that's what it is! Remember if you do detox them, they need to have access to getting outside because any detox will cause one to go to the bathroom MORE than usual. **There is one** place to buy a good detox (and remember if it is a HOMEOPATHIC product...humans can take it too, because the Remedy doesn't differentiate between species....it simply works as it was created to work, you only change the number of drops according to the weight of the creature receiving it. (20 pounds = 3 drops 35 to 45 pounds = 4 drops 55 or more 6 drops) UNLESS the manufacturer says DIFFERENTLY! http://www.pets4homeopathy.com/remedies.html **EDIT FOR TYPE-O** There are many places to find A good Detox...here are two that specialize in Animals. http://www.homeopet.com/
  • I would try going on the B.A.R.F. diet. That stands for Bones And Raw Food. It is an all natural, very much like what wild dogs and wolves eat. Dogs do remarkable on it. Everything from allergies, dirty teeth, loose smelly stools and nervousness are helped. And in the long run we even find it to be cheaper because the dogs stay healthy. We also don't vaccinate regularly. We use titers, instead, checking to see if they are still under the effect of the vaccine. Many vets don't like the BARF diet but many are starting to come around. I find a lot of those that don't like it are against most natural forms of healing anyway so we found more homeopathic and naturopathic vets. Here's a website that may explain a bit about the BARF diet. It originated from a vet in Australia. http://www.barfworld.com/html/barf_diet/barfdiet_specific.shtml And a link to a book about Dr. Billinghurst's book; http://www.amazon.com/Barf-Diet-Cats-Ian-Billinghurst/dp/0958592519/ref=sr_1_4/103-4803488-3092648?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1187109390&sr=1-4
