It could be because you started the pack too early or... you may be pregnant. In addition to preganancy, there can be many serious conditions that result in missed periods such as STDs, cysts, and cancer. Better safe than sorry. You should take a preganancy test, then consult your health care professional. Usually if you start a pack of pills on the day your period is supposed to start, you should still have some "breakthrough" bleeding because the levels have decreased to the point that your period can begin. Even when you start back on the pill, it takes a day or two for the meds to end your period.

This is normally what professional athletes do to make sure they do not have a period during a large tournament. I would imagine that it is the pill but if it is possible that you could be pregnant take a test as soon as you can just to set your mind at rest

Something I've been told (but don't take it as gospel absolute accurate truth) is that it's better to start a pack on the actual first day of bleeding rather than going by what the cycle would be up to - the reason for that is if you're not good at calculating your cycle's progress, then you know for sure you're menstruating. If you're still worried, talk to your doctor or a chemist about it.

Yes - it is very easily caused by starting the pack too early. Finish taking the pack all the way through and then make sure you don't do the same thing next month. Wait for your actual flow. If you do not have a period again next month, see your doctor.
