Generally, you may sit in any pew you like. If you are nervous about sticking out, you might prefer to sit in the middle or towards the back to attract less attention.

Anywhere is fine. Up front where you can see and hear well is always my own preference. If you don't have a good Catholic friend to go with I even recommend calling the parish office and asking to talk to the priest and maybe ask if someone can meet you as you come in and sit with you. You can tell the usher if you like and ask to be seated with their family or someone who can help you not feel so out of place. If going for the first time all by yourself, I suggest that you sit near the front, but under no circumstances go up to take communion. There are real good reasons for that, & until you understand them, just don't go up there. Spend that time kneeling in prayer and worship or sitting and praying.

You can sit wherever you want! Most Catholic's are very welcoming and will help you as much as they can. Also a lot of Catholic Church's have a sort of welcoming committee for new people. Call the parish office to see if it has one. If not, Ushers can help you find a place to sit and everything. Also someone previously said you can not go up for communion, however you CAN go up, you just CAN'T recieve the host (body of Christ, the Eucharist) unless you receive the sacrament of first communion. Just go up if you are comfortable, place your hand across your chest, and ask for a blessing. Catholics can also do this if they have already recieved communion that week or if they feel that they shouldn't recieve it that week. A blessing is open to EVERYONE. Hope this helps.
