This could be serious. Is there anyway you can get your cat to see a psychiatrist urgently! Better for the cat to have a consultation before the split! If it is too late for that, please, please, keep all razor blades and house hold bleach, locked away out of reach. Please also ban the cat from the kitchen, as knive's can also be a problem to depressed cats. It may be a good idea, to feed the cat with supplied plastic knive's and forks, just in case! You just never know!

Hi there, I also have experienced this kind of situation, though with dogs. The dog we moved was constantly crying and barking and carrying on untill we returned him with his buddy. Generally if the two cats have been close over their years together then it's probably not a good idea to seperate them now. Seperation anxiety behaviour to watch out for would be the cat skipping meals, not sleeping, meowing repeativley, etc. I think your daughter should either take both or leave both, but depending on your cats personality and/or love for your daughter it could go either way.
