It might make it a bit more comfortable for some, but it would also prevent an open range of answers from ALL opinions.
-
It would be nice, but I'd be afraid if they figured it out, there go my percents @.@. It is, however, something to think about.
-
I think it MIGHT be useful, but I also think that one of the beneficial aspects of the site is having to be faced with varying opinions of all kinds and being unable to ignore them.
-
Yes, I would like to see a feature like that to ignore certain users >_>. However this would interfere with any debate that may go on (and really, whats wrong with a little debate on AB :)).
-
Sure it would. Some people's questions, answers, and comments are so predictably one-dimensional bad or weird that it'd be great to filter out the rants and the noise.
-
It already has that feature and you have the remote control in your pocket. Ignore them.
-
I don't think it would matter to me - it's like TV. Change the channel. I have my own internal filters.
-
If you do not wish to have any interaction with a certain member you have the answer yourself . Just ignore them. Nobody forces anyone to have contact with any other member. I think it would make things difficult and muddled to try to introduce an ignore feature.
-
Yes please! This site is going to become unreadable if these question floods keep up. Ignore features are a perfect solution for this without having to ban users.

Here's a problem: If a user you don't like answers a question you DO like, and wish to answer, what gets blocked? The whole question? (Then how do you answer it?) THEIR answer? (That will leave a gap in the answer rankings) Their comments? (That will leave a gap in the comment threads, sometimes so they no longer make sense.) What if, believe it or not it DOES happen, they ask a question you wish to answer? If they are blocked, then you don't even see it, even if all your friends have. (MANY times there are people I haven't gotten along with who ask a question. By the time I get to it, it's been answered a few times, and their avatar is no longer the one shown. So I go in to answer it, and do. In fact, I seldom know who asks a question until I go to rate it, which I either do last or when I'm drawn back to it by rating or comments. So, if people you've blocked ask questions and if they answer them, and THOSE are blocked, then how do you AB at all?

Everyone has to cultivate their own ability to "just walk away" when certain users invade your questions or threads.

No, I wouldn't vote either way.

I have that feature built in. I ignore everyone I do not like.
-
See no evil hear no evil; and therefore justify to oneself that you're right and they're wrong, that there could possibly be no way that you're the bad guy and need not consider one's own actions. I find that wussy. As for trolls and the like, like why do people need a technical feature to help them ignore something? Against.
-
Against. Ignoring is for pussies.

It sounds like it could come in handy but I don't think I would use it as it's easy for me to ignore who I choose to, and that is so rare. Plus I just don't see how ti would work well, with all the commenting that could go on and what, just their comments wouldn't show up in a thread but you'd see people responding to them. It just doesn't make sense to have that feature to me.
