Very much so. Job title... Alter Ego who needs more than one personality.
-
Me personally, not so much. At the moment I'm doing some office work just for some summer cash for the upcoming year at university. However, I am graduating at the end of this year and have been thinking about that. I'm going to have to say yes and no. It depends on the person I think, like how humble you are about the view of your job. Now if you're talking about literally the job title sounding more important than the actual work you perform then YES I do believe it happens a lot! :) PS: Is this a personal question? What do you think Jax?

Not so much. Receptionist is pretty straightforward. :P

I am a receptionist---no

Yes, I'm the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors... What it all comes down to is I deal with the Board (a bunch of friends) and other CEOs (who are guys like me). All-in-all, nothing impressive. Everyone wins (and I ensure that this is the case). A**holes, suck-ups and backstabbers are asked to leave. We work as one big team without exception, everyone helps each other. I like that.

Yes, I am the President of my company, and I'm the Vice President of my husbands company.
-
Office Manager...but I'm more of a glorified receptionist.

Isn't that the point of job titles -- to convey responsibility and authority? Especially if you're printing them on business cards. You wouldn't want everyone's to say, "Jane Doe, Corporate Lackey". That's why we don't have "secretaries" anymore, but have "administrative assistants" instead.

Yes, Territory Manager, but I'm neither a King or a prince;) i'm more like a guy that makes sure that the company i work for makes much profit in my area
-
No.. It does what it says on the tin!

Really, it just depends on where you work. People who work for banks, insurance companies...etc., they often have very professional, important, and completely false job titles. However, if you go down to your local fast food resturant, you are likely to see some straight foward titles like 'cashier' or 'manager'. These days, it's too easy to cloud the judgement of others with how important your job sounds. You could be a greatly trusted manager ...of your own 6x6 cubicle!!!
