  • In what context? A scale factor is just a number that something must be multiplied by. For example to convert units. To convert 5 inches to mm you need to know how many mm are in an inch. That's the scale factor. It's 25.4 so there are 5*25.4 mm in an inch. Scale factor could be the ratio between size of a house on a plan and the actual house, or the scale of a map.
