I'd try different cables and if that doesn't work - swap it out at the store. You can do that right after purchase and it's alot easier than dealing with a manufacturers warranty.

It sounds to me like the AV cable (the yellow, white, and red one) has a broken video wire (the yellow one). You should probably try swapping the cable with another one if you can before you try to get a new one, because there is a chance that the problem is within the console itself.
