Click Start 2. click Run and enter "command.com" to start the command interpreter 3. enter "cd " to change to the root directory. 4. enter "dir (your filename, in quotes if it contains blanks) /s" to do a directory search of all you current drive. 5. If not sure of the name, then use a wildcard form: "dir xxxx*.* /s where xxxx is as much of the name that you can certain about, and * is a wildcard indicator for the remainder of the filename and filetype. - Note: #5 might produce considerable output but it will be in a scrollable window.
  • Open My Computer or Windows Explorer. Go to the Tools... Folder Options menu item and click on the View tab. Select the little button next to where it says 'Show hidden files and folders and click OK. Find the file and right click on it. Select Properties from the menu that appears and clear the check box next to the word Hidden.
