  • I thought he first showed up as a Marvel comic book hero, but I could be wrong.

Well, yea. I'm not talking about the character himself but the toy version of GI Joe.

Oh I see. Sorry I'm not much help. I, myself was already an action figure with a motorcycle, when the toys/dolls hit the market. The dolls I played with wore tight sweaters and red lipstick. ; )

The ladies action figure - ICE MAN.

Lol tight sweaters and red lipstick. C cup or better, bring meat and beer. I'm getting a more 'fleshed out' picture of the Ice Man trap.

LOL, it helps if they have their own helmet too : )

So your girlfriend doesn't mind you sharing a ride, she's just not going to share the helmet? I don't blame her you can catch stuff sharing helmets! Lol
  • In the late 1940s I received a wind-up toy of GI-Joe for Christmas. It was a little metal Jeep with swiveling front wheels. It would move forward and backwards and as the front wheels swiveled it would run all over the place. GI Joe sat in the drivers seat. I had the toy for years I don't know what ever happened to it. I wish I had it today because I am sure it would be worth some money.

Oh you mean it was designed to back up and go in a different direction, when it hit an obstruction? I had an orange tractor that did that, in the 60's. And yea if we still had these things they'd be worth $$. I had a friend who collected old toys, and knew where to sell them. (His job involved cleaning out cellars and garages, etc).

Sounds like a hand crafted one of a kind.
  • I think it depended on your age. I was a bit too old to get into those so they struck me as 'dolls'. But if I'd been younger I'd have considered a GI Joe an "action figure" and adventure would surely have ensued.

My Six Million Dollar Man toy was an action figure - all others were just dolls.
  • let's face it, folks, it was A DOLL......and so what? you could say that a Barbie doll was an action figure, but then what could she do? what could a GI JOE DOLL do? nothing, right,,,,sooooooo technically, they are both DOLLS.......whether ya wanna call'em that or not!! tee hee :-D

Many would agree with your analysis.
  • I'm going to have to say that depends on whose hands it's in. He could have been launched from a canon, set adrift on the ocean, mauled by dogs or used as a dildo or digging stick the possibilities are endless...

Not so much what it is as how it's played with.

      Exactly
