  • Trying to think of one particular event would be hard, there have been too many scary moments to list. I guess I would have to say that the day that it sunk in that there was no one left. In a course of 5 yrs I had lost the rest of my family, my best friend, and had gotten a divorce leaving me pretty much alone. I was of course aware of the events as they occured but being aware of and actually "getting it" are two very different things. I realized I am in position I despise, a home I dispise, a state that I have no real affection for either, surrounded by people I find to be oh so self important and boring to boot.. and I froze like bambi in the headlights..Scariest thing that ever happened to me. :)
  • My most scariest thing was when two strange men took me from a park. I was 6 years old.
  • I should say when I almost died..but that wasn't scary at all..just peaceful. I think when I retired from work--I sort of felt like I was stepping off into a void. But retirement is utopia.
  • One scary thing that I can think of that happened recently... I was working in a subway shop in downtown... It was a little one that didn't get much business... Well I closed the store by myself... And one night this bum guy comes in tripping really hard on something... I couldn't understand a lot of what he was trying to tell me... He kept saying "your eyes are like the light in mine"... I don't even know if he realized what he meant by it... Well I made his sandwich, and he took it and didn't pay for it... He sat inside... and so I went in the backroom office to call my friend and tell her about him... because he creeped me out and I was going to wait until he left to go back out there... Well I was talking to my friend and I looked up at the security camera and the camera that was pointing into the offic showed him right behind me... I dropped the phone and screamed at him to get out and I slammed the office door... I picked up the phone and told my friend that I had to call the police... He stood by the door forever and then walked in the front and started messing with the cash register... The cops finally showed up and pulled there guns on him because he wouldn't listen to them.. I was shaking and so freaked out... My boss moved me to a different store in town that had two people closing at night...
  • I was in a car that was hit by a semi. We were driving down the highway, and the truck driver took a turn way too fast, and we were in the passing lane beside him. He jack-knifed, and our cars entire back-end was crushed. Luckily, no one was killed, but I have a pin in my leg that's holding the bone together as my leg snapped clean in half. I don't even remember what happened from the time of seeing the truck lose control to the time I woke up in the hospital, though I'm told I was conscious and that I was giving a full account of what happened. To this day, the memory remains sketchily blocked.

  • I wanted my mom to take me to Barnes and Noble. Mom turned the car and ended up getting hit by another car. The ambulance came and shook me. That was when I noticed that blood was on the top of my head. I yelled, "I'm bleeding, I'm bleeding." I saw blood all over my pants and shirt. I turned my head and saw a whole lot of glass everywhere. I got put on a stretcher and brought into the ambulance's vehicle. When I reached the hospital, I got pushed over to a room. A curtain was separating me and my sister. Cops asks us questions, I didn't know the answer to a few. Later on, I got to talk to my sister. My sister, my mom, and I got pulled into a room one by one and we had to get put under this one machine. We got pulled back into the room. I ended up seeing my mom later on. My mom was worse than the rest of us, but we ended up leaving that day.

  • Tough question... I've witnessed some absolutely horrifying things, but none of them actually happened 'to me', as I said I was merely a witness. Hmm... I don't know for sure, but I've had people threaten to kill me several times before *shrugs* that's never really an enjoyable experience... Also, I was once in a light aircraft flying around New Zealand (middle of nowhere), and we hit some MAJOR turbulence... Damn near threw the plane 10 feet down in an instant then back up again, pretty much hit the roof and everything... That was pretty scary : D
  • I would have to say my dad having a heart attack in front of me in July was the scariest.
  • There are two that were equally terrifying. While snorkeling for my first time, without any instruction (yeah, stupid I know), I became tired. I was in deep water and not close to shore. There wasn't anyone in my immediate area. I struggled to get back to shore. I went under 3 times. Obviously, I made it. I will never snorkel again. The other was during a snowstorm. I was determined to drive to a neighboring town. The roads seemed OK, but when I started driving over a navigational bridge, my car started fish tailing. The bridge was as least 300 feet over the Arkansas river. I lost control of the car and did 3 donuts across the bridge before coming to a stop. I didn't hit any of the concrete walls. It was a miracle.
  • A friend and I were walking towards my house when I was like 12 years old. A man walked up from behind us and pulled my backpack from me. I pulled with all my strength and the straps gave way. I got the bag, he walked off laughing ... Scary at that point, not so much now :p

And also witnessing fights scares me and once a dude punched the window of my car cos he wanted to beat up the guy inside my car. I can't think of anything else.

  • Jumping off a cliff of a water fall
  • I was hiking in CO. with a friend, when we found ourselves about a hundred feet up, near the edge of a cliff. There was a flat rock about twenty feet wide and at about a thirty degree slope, ending at the edge of the cliff. I began to cross, and was about halfway when my feet started sliding on loose gravel. I dropped to my butt and the heels of my hands, desperately trying to stop my slide towards the edge. I kept sliding. I was close enough to the edge to see where I was about to end my life on the rocks below, when the heel of my shoe caught hold of a small fissure in the rock. I stopped sliding, but was afraid to move; fearing any motion, and my heel would lose it's place in the crack.. I'd start to slide, and go over. My friend worked his way down along the side of the sloping rock, stepped out, and coaxed me to reach for his hand. After a few seconds of weighing my options (getting up the nerve) I took the risk, turned to my side and clasped his hand, just as my heel lost it's tentative hold in the gravel filled crack. With my friend's help, I was able to crawl to safety. Standing on solid ground, I looked over the edge and thought about how close I'd come, to a hundred foot free fall, ending in a final bone crushing impact. My friend saved my life that day... Thanks Todd.

He had a semi-automatic pistol, in his hand. He cleaned out the cash register and left. No one was hurt. I did not really get scared until later that morning. I really came to grips with the fact that I could have been killed. I never want to go through that again. That was as scary to me as it comes.

  • i was 12 years old and i was in my dad's village in Nigeria (West Africa), my dad had guests coming over, so i had to go put some beers in the fridge(yes they have technology). i carried too many, and one slipped from my hand, and left a big gash in my ankle, i was bleeding soooo badly, it was unrealistic. my brother brought his towel to cover the wound, but his towel soaked through. Not to mention, there was no car at home at the time, and i was beginning to bleed out, and as we were in a village, there was no phone service and no 911 anyways. luckily one of his guests arrived, and they had to use his car to get me to the village nurse. i left his car soooo bloody. i haven't been so scared in my life. when i got back to the U.S, i learned it was heavily infected, because it wasnt treated properly. whew!
