Do you think we should eliminate The Supreme Court and let local courts handle all the traffic? Political appointments breed loyalty to an idealogy...that would be eliminated. Good idea or bad idea?

Bad idea. Although the Supreme Court has gotten too far in many cases that were presented, it should still stand. My main reason is because the Supreme Court deals with the constitution. Local courts can vary greatly among the rights.

The Supreme Court Judges have been displaying partial decisions that are not logical or fair. A more fair legal system would be to create a list of offenses with similar patterns and same punishments irregardless of any form of staus, i.e. financial, racial. etc. Same for all. This would prevent social unrest since it is the pattern of injustice that creates this types of political and social unrest.

The original framers of our government set up the idea of a Supreme court of appointed justices that weren't subject to another political body's influence. This is part of our triumvirate checks and balances. Being appointed for life guarantees that the justices can adjudicate based on their ACTUAL interpretation, and not a POPULAR interpretation. It's actually pretty ingenious, if you study the historical significance of our unique government. Each branch has its own power that is virtually uncheckable, but each branch's authority COMES FROM another branch. Facinating.

I meant to respond to your question with:Yes! let's eliminate the Supreme Court Justice, or at least to replace the judges that are not worth their salt. We are hearing lately of an increasing degree of bad judges that make wrong and unfair judgements and that are doing bad things. the most recent that comes to mind here in oklahoma is a judge who was actually playing with his privates while on duty. I coudn't believe it when it came out on the news. Are we in the Twilight zone?

The problem with your logic is that local judges are either politically appointed or voted in. This makes them potentially biased as well. At least the Supreme Court has life tenure, which takes away the pressure to adhere to an ideology.

The higher courts are all appointed, and the lower courts are all elected! Which side do you believe will be more acceptable to the people rather than their party? The supreme court should be required to examine every case, and not be so selective at what they will review or not! They should have term limits and be elected just like the other branches! The present supreme court should be abolished and replaced with one that has only the interests of the people at heart!
