This is driving me up the wall. i'm too big to ride on the back of my dad's motorcycle anymore, but he won't let me get my own because he says the insurance will kick my ass. isnt bike insurance less because you can't do as much damage to other people?

It kind of depends on where you live. Bike insurance can be high in cities and for younger people. It doesnt' really matter how small or large you and your bike are. But I would look into it. Certain types of bikes have much lower insurance. Like a touring bike or more standard bike is less than a severely speedy sport bike. Dual sports may be less too depending on where you live. Why don't you look into it by bike type and see if there isn't something you and your dad could afford. And I wonder why you are too big. My husband and I ride together and do it all over the country. Maybe you need to get a bigger bike for the both of you :-) -
