I have twice, its a great party city for young people, the irish love their beer and drink it to the extreme! If you are not organising a party weekend (or romantic weekend) then sorry, I have no idea what it is like.

went a couple of months ago for a short break. Spent most of my time in Dublin city. There's is loads to see and do during the day...cathedrals, markets, Dublin castle and some museums and art galleries. Not exactly Paris or Rome but the city has a quaint feel to it and is very charming. Plenty of nightlife in the city. Most tourists visit Temple bar because there's a lot of late bars. One night was enjoyable but enough. After that we stayed around Grafton street - Dublin's shopping area with plenty of trendy pubs. Go - you'll love it. I think this is the site we booked our hotel stay on. http://www.dublinspot.com

There's more to Dublin than the beer! Though that is pretty good as well. If you're looking for a party weekend then the place to go is Temple bar in the city centre. The city is steeped in history and culture and there's a lot to see during the day - because the city is relatively small you can get around by foot. We took a sightseeing bus tour on the first day just to get oriented. Its a good idea. A wonderful city - it was expensive when I was there but the prices are falling now due to the recession. We stayed in a guest house in Temple bar when we were there. (saved on taxi fares at night!) http://www.dublinspot.com/dublin-guesthouses.htm Do go - its well worth the visit.

I'm overdue to take a Ryanair weekend to Dublin, not sure yet what to expect but only heard good things about it.
