Corned beef please. Thank you
They are, as your question implies, very similar. They both start out pickled in brine. Corned beef is then boiled. Pastrami is smoked, and often encrusted with peppercorns.
Pastrami comes form a word refering to preservation. The "corn" in corned beef refers to coarse grains ("corns") of salt.
